Bail plea of mobile ‘snatcher’ rejected : The Tribune India

Chandigarh, June 14

A local court has denied bail to an accused, Asif Ansari, booked for allegedly snatching a mobile from a city resident.

Ansari was arrested on May 17 on the complaint of Lalit Sood, a resident of Sector 40, Chandigarh. Sood had alleged that the accused and his accomplices snatched his mobile phone when he was going towards Phase 1 in Mohali on his bicycle on May 5.

The counsel of the accused claimed that he was falsely implicated in the case. He said the trial would take a long time and the accused would abide by all terms and conditions if granted bail. The public prosecutor opposed the bail arguing that the snatched mobile phone of the complainant was recovered from a co-accused and the motorcycle used in the crime was also recovered. The court denied bail stating that if the accused was released on bail, he might hamper the investigation. — TNS
